Trash Meet IV Saturday, April 29, 2006 by T. Alan Place The PRR Trash Hounds had originally planned to do our Adopt-a-Highway trash pickup on Earth Day, April 22. We canceled that because the PRR was already committed on that day to doing the course layout & timing for the UI Spring Forward 5K. In our absence, the Earth Day organizers dispatched a group of young women to pick up trash along the same section of the Pullman Highway for which the PRR is responsible. So when the PRR Trash Hounds showed up on the 29th, there was only a one-week accumulation of trash along the Pullman highway, but a six-month accumulation along our section of the Troy Highway. Those Trash Hounds in the know, being of devious disposition, dispatched those not in the know to the Troy highway section. The Pullman highway group finished in record time, while the Troy highway group were laboring under heavy orange garbage bags. Following their labors, the
Trash Hounds were obviously in need of rehydration therapy. Our former
watering hole, Branegan's, has closed, but we found a good substitute in the
outdoor section of the Coeur d'Alene Ale House on 6th St. Unkind observers
have suggested that the Trash Hounds spent more time at the Ale House than
they did on trash pickup. The Hounds were, of course, offended. Evidence of
our labors can seen in the attached digipics. |
