| The Pea Fields run starts
from the Memorial Gym on the UI campus, and follows the same
route as Short Sheep for two miles. Easy stuff up to this
point. Say hi to sheep. Talk to cows. Things get tougher
when you reach the Avista substation on Harden Road. There
you take a sharp left onto Adams Court and climb a steep
50-foot hill. Adams Court is gravel up to the top of the
hill, after which it becomes a dirt road. The turnaround is
at the top of the second rise, and is marked by a green
fluorescent paint mark on a wooden fence post. This is about
0.6 miles from the Harden/Adams junction. There are open
fields on either side of you along Adams Court. On the
return trip you have a tough 90-foot climb to the top of the
Adam’s Court hill. Nice views over the Palouse countryside.
Don’t try this run in wet weather. The half mile of dirt
road turns into mud.
