| 9/27 | Sharon, thanks for removing Homecoming and fixing the calendar table. Nick said he liked the colors you had on the wide one. I'm partially color blind so I will defer to your judgment. | Ed, I got your email about this page. Good idea. I tried some new colors on the Race list. | |
| 9/27 | Ed, I'll work on the form for entering race info. next, while we wait for the member list from John. Did you hear if Gary confirmed the church basement? | I've called but no answer yet. | |
| 9/27 | Ed, I added the race information form. Let me know if it works OK for you. Currently the results from the volunteer form and the race information form are going into HTML formatted files in _private/. There are a few file types we can choose from - is it better to choose something like a text file delimited with commas for importing into Excel? From one of the forms, look at Form Properties-Options...-File Results tab-File Format menu for a list of file types available. | Sharon, it is always best to use text format with TAB delimited for reading in Excel or SPSS etc. (if you use comma delimited there will be times when people include a comma in what they type and it will jump to the next field) | 9/30 OK, both forms now put their results into a tab delimited .txt file. |
| I added an "additional comments" section so that they can
type extra instructions etc. and not have to email us.
Also, I linked this webmaster page to the home page on the "V" in visitors to this site and removed the hyperlink underlining. That way, we can quickly check here from the home page without having to type anything. |
9/30 That's good. I added "additional comments" to the volunteer form too. Each field needs a name (name it by double clicking on the scroll box or button) so it can go on the "confirm" page as a "confirmation field component" (from the Insert-Components menu.) Great! |
Sharon, on the volunteer form, you have to look at the saved fields and remove "Homecoming." Also, anytime you make a change to a form or its fields, you have to go to "Tools" and "Recalculate Hyperlinks" so that the txt file has the right fields etc. Also, you have to have the cursor in the form when you recalc. | |
| 9/30 | Titles on each page are currently in color-navy, font-"Arial Rounded MT Bold", size-14pt, face-regular (not italic or bold). | ||
| 10/1 | Alan Place has entered his GPS route on a DeLorme map and sent it to me as a Powerpoint. The jpg I created is 262Kb. Do you think that is too large? Eventually we want to add little pictures of scenery along the route either on the runningroutes.htm page or the map.htm page. I was pressed for time so you may want to fix fonts etc. etc. Also, please let me know if they load in Netscape OK. ED | I think the map size is OK so far. Netscape looks fine
too. Alan said the text on the maps is a fuzzier than in his
original - did you have to change what he gave you? Maybe lower dpi
making it look blurry?

| 10/2 | Take a look at Ron Robberecht's "Routes" link on
the Palouse Runners Network site.
Also, I found a race directors manual for the links area - we talked about a separate page for this info. from members of our club too. |
||
| 10/2 | Road Runners or Roadrunners? Searching on it on google shows mostly as 2 words. Which one was the RV club? I can make it consistent if we pick one. | I used Road Runners on the new picture etc. because I think
it is more likely for people to find.
I loaded a different weather thingy because it was narrower than the other one (we were trying to keep the TOC frame pretty narrow) and it shows the time. |
Ron helped me remake the frames (using Frontpage's new "insert frames") so that the picture would be a banner across the top. UNFORTUNATELY, my version of Netscape (4.6) cannot load "in-line frames!" Do you have a newer version of Netscape? Does it load it? I suspect that I will have to revert back to our prior version (renamed indexoldframes.html) and then work with someone who knows how to doctor the html code to move the picture banner frame over to the left. Bummer...it's always something! |
| 10/3 | Ed, I sent you email about this too. I switched the rows and columns in the frames and I think it gives the look you were looking for with the banner across the top. So we have 3 versions right now, indexframes.html (I also saved what was there this morning as index-ed.html in case this one was unique), indexoldframes.html, and index_sharon.html, and currently index_sharon.html is the one in index.html. Let me know if this is the look you want. | One weird thing: after I save my new version of
index_sharon.html as index.html, it shows up correctly in Internet
Explorer and Netscape, but when I open index.html again in Frontpage, it
is the old frames version, and not the contents of index_sharon.html. ...Seems OK later. |
|
| 10/7 | The maps are looking good! I just made style changes to make the text the same in each, and added the text to the Via run - feel free to edit. I'm trying some new colors on the "Links" and "Contact" pages. My laptop screen doesn't give me a good color check so let me know what you think. Trying to match the sky and the wheat colors in the banner picture. I added the rest of Nancy's text about the meeting to the "Events" page. What do you think of having the background color on each page just be in the table, as I changed it to now, instead of across the whole page, as it was previously? Then it lines up with the banner more neatly. | Sharon,
I like the use of color in tables. I thought that in Table Properties we could increase the Cell Padding and get the text to move away from the extreme edge of the cell (it seems to work on this table but not on "Upcoming Events". ED 11:58 pm |
10/10: The Cell Padding of 10 looks pretty good. I think a table width of 604 matches the top picture banner pretty well for width, so that's what I changed both those properties to. Looks OK in Netscape too. |
| 10/16 | I added one of Alan's pictures of Memorial Gym on the
running routes page. There are a few running routes maps that don't have the team name and URL on them yet (mostly the earlier ones). Can you add text on how Kurdistan got its name? I'm keeping the Race Calendar up to date but have saved RaceCal_archive.html with the past races to give us races to look for next fall. |
10/27 6pm I just added an entry form and put the starting time on the Latah Trail pages |
10/28/2002 6:58pm Photos have been added to Shady Lanes and Kurdistan. Whew! It takes a while. |
| 11/19 | Ed, I made a few cosmetic
changes today. Also: updated Al_LeadsMap.htm to reference the newer Al Leads map, and imported revised GeriatricRun.jpg and linked it to GeriatricMap.htm and started Darby7Map.htm -still needs a thumbnail. Some thumbnails still need to be updated to reflect the revised larger maps (Geriatric, Kurdistan, North Polk). |
11/20 Ed, I added the Darby 7 thumbnail and updated the other thumbnails. I made a "RunningRoutes" directory for all the map .htm files. I also added a Dec. race we got notice of from the race entry form results. | 11/21 Looks great, Sharon. Feel free to add any more
if you have the map and photos from Alan.
I updated the Race Results page to move the Maddest of Palouse results to a separate page. Welcome back! |
| 11/21 | Sharon, I noticed you took off the old races from the Race Calendar. In the past we had decided to leave "one year's worth" of races posted because when outsiders visit the page they like to get a feel for what goes on in the Palouse. Also, I have gotten several email inquiries about past races because people were planning ahead and often the same races are offered the same month each year. | OK, race archive is back into current race calendar. That's a good idea. | |
| 11/22 | Ed, Darby 7 and Intergalactic
pictures are up. I'm wondering if we need a link from each map page to the thumbnail page, so if someone prints the map they don't have to print the thumbnails? I may have a chance to load some more tomorrow, else not for another week. |
11/23 Ed, I added Via and Sand Road pics. Just have
Geriatric to go. Maybe later today. Also added Alan's Latah Trail Fun Run group photo to the photo page for that run.....OK, done with Geriatric too. Whew. Sheep Pens is the only one left with pics we haven't loaded yet....Sheep Pens done. |
|
| 11/29 | Ed, I added "scrollbars as needed" to the frame that holds the toolbar, so people with large font settings can see the whole menu - as requested by John Francis. I also adjusted the widths of the toolbar table and the index1 table to take out some dead space. | ||
| 12/2 | Ed, I imported WSU 100k pictures and Silver Trail Map but haven't put them on a page yet. Will get to it next. Is there another name for the Silver Trail we should use? | 12/9 Ed, I changed the width of the membership form so it will print on one page instead of two. The WSU 100k map is loaded and most of the pictures but not the pictures from Dec. 7th yet. | |
| 12/13 | Ed, The newer WSU photos and all the Snake River photos still need to be loaded. I'll try to get to it this weekend. I added links for these races in the race calendar, and got a new race (Santa Trot) from the race form results. | 12/15 Ed, I loaded the extra WSU photos and the Snake River photos. | |
| 12/21 | Ed, I updated photos and maps for Al Leads and Bennetts. Added date of 3/1/03 for Snake River. | ||
| 1/4 | Ed, I added photos for Polk-Normal and also imported the photos for Polk-Strange and Up Town - but haven't put them on the webpages for those two yet. Also put in new map and chart for Sheep Pens. Got another race for the calendar (on 2/1) from the race input form. | 1/7: Ed: UpTown, Polk Strange and the Women's Run photos and maps are now up to date. | 1/11: Sharon, I hung the Snake Half entry form as a .pdf on the Race Route page. |
| 1/20/03 | Sharon, I finally put the Snake Half entry form out on .pdf format. I had to uninstall Acrobat 5 and re-install it. ARRGH! | ||
| 2/13/03 | Ed, I added a link back to the PRR Homepage from each of the race pages and running route pages, in case someone links to those pages directly. You had added one on the Snake Half page already and it seemed like a good idea for all the pages. | I also added a new photo to the Events page and a "board meeting alert" on the home page. Also adding new races to the race calendar - we got an entry on the form yesterday. And adding a section/page for out of town/other races, linked from the race calendar. | |
| 2/13/03 | Ed, When someone enters a race on the race info. entry form, I added my email address to be notified, as well as keeping it going to the file. So far I've just gotten lucky and seen new entries not long after they were added. We'll see how this works for now. | ||
| 2/21/03 | Ed, I tested the race form and volunteer form and now the results go to the tab delimited files as usual and also to my email. So we'll get notification sooner. | ||
| 2/21/03 | Ed, I found it's easy to create a password protected directory with the control panel. Does the board want to password protect the current newsletter posting or just make it available to all? | ||
| 2/26/03 | Ed, I added photos on the Officers page and the About Us and How to Join page. Also a new one on Events page. | ||
| 03/03/03 | Sharon, I copied Nick's pictures to Snake2003Images folder because my CD burner wasn't working properly. | ||
| 10/22/03 | I created a new banner photo to remove the word "Club" from PRR | ||
| 6/27/04 | I added the Albion Run Entry form and added Albion as an option on the volunteer form. I saved the old volunteer form results into "_private/volunteer_results-v1.txt". The current volunteer results will still go to the file "volunteer_results.txt" as well as to me in email. -Sharon. | ||
| 7/27/07 | Removed e-mail from officers photos. - cwt | ||
